Microsoft Is Staking Its Future On Generative AI

Following

OpenAI’s Chat GPT3 has advanced more rapidly than any application in the history of the internet. In just five days, it has surpassed one million users compared to Instagram taking 2.5 months, Facebook at 10 months and Netflix 3.5 years.

Microsoft is staking its future growth by optimizing its Bing search engine, with its own intelligent chat capabilities, based on large language model touted as more powerful that ChatGPT3

Hedging its bet on generative AI, Microsoft has also made a major investment in OpenAI with a $10B investment.

Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, has been very clear that generative AI will reshape every Microsoft software category and major transformations are underway throughout the company. Microsoft has a major edge over its rivals, as it also is building in its own AI chips, so it won’t be totally reliant on market leaders like Intel, or Nvidia.

One only has to look at the explosive growth of the AI Chip market has been growing an incredible pace in North America, a market only valued in 2022 at $16B but predicted by 2032 to be closer to $60B.

Elon Musk compared the growth of generative AI to an asteroid hitting earth exploding everywhere.

This advanced language based model technology innovation enables humans to ask questions and receive back incredibly accurate answers to solve most research problems, resulting in reduced research time. According to research from OpenAI generative AI will impact 50% of the tasks in many knowledge worker roles. High impact careers will be in copyrighting, journalism, research, accounting, etc.

I predict that as this technology further matures from future generations of Chat Bots, whether it’s from OpenAI, Chat GPT, Microsoft’s Bing, Google’s Bard, Facebook’s, BlenderBot, or Baidu’s, Ernie Bot, 30% of all knowledge worker tasks will disappear.

Where will the new jobs come from and will they be here fast enough?

I don’t think so.
